Hotel or Guesthouse

Rules by the Tourist Boards state that we are not allowed to call ourselves 'hotel' anymore. Although we offer much more facilities than a guesthouse our classification falls within the 4 star guesthouse range

The name change has to be in place by 2008 .

The hotel has not changed in anyway and still provides the same level of accommodation and breakfasts that we have for the last 77 years just the name 'The Priory Hotel' has to change.

The New Name is going to be

'The York Priory '

Smoking

As most of our customers are aware the new anti-smoking laws change on 1st July 2007, until then we will continue with the policy that we have now.

From the 1st July it will be the law in England that you will not be able to smoke anywhere within the hotel. All our customers who do wish to smoke we welcome you and we are pleased to encourage you to make use of our lovely floodlit gardens where you can still enjoy a ciggarette
